DuPont Elementary Evacuated Due To Smoke

  • Monday, December 18, 2017

DuPont Elementary was evacuated Monday afternoon when smoke became visible in a hallway of the school.

Children and staff were evacuated as a source was investigated by the fire department. A modified dismissal was necessary as the school was still in evacuation at dismissal time.

The problem was determined as a power surge that blew out a number of light ballasts in the building.

Work has begun to correct the problem and everything should be ready for children to return tomorrow

DuPont cancelled SACC (after school care) as the building was being checked.
