Man Who Died In Hixson House Fire Friday Morning Identified As James Young, 50

James Young, 50 died from smoke inhalation from a house fire Friday morning in Hixson. 

The Chattanooga Fire Department responded to a duplex fire at 7:17 a.m. Six fire companies responded to 4605 Plaza Hills Lane with reports of one person still in the structure.
 
The first arriving company, Quint 19, immediately entered the house despite heavy smoke and flames.
The victim was quickly removed, handed over to the waiting HCEMS ambulance, and transported to Erlanger. He later died.
 
It was verified that all occupants of the other side of the duplex had exited and they reported there was only one resident of the side involved. Fire crews continued an aggressive interior attack and secondary searches. The fire was brought under control in 30 minutes.
 
Damage was contained to the one side of the duplex. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. 
 
Five other people have been displaced by the fire.
