Once she completes her master’s in business administration at UTC, Christine Williamson wants to become a lobbyist for the Alzheimer’s Association where she is currently a national ambassador and Tennessee’s congressional advocate. However, the current Miss Chattanooga has her eyes on another opportunity seeking a job that she has pursued for five years – becoming Miss Tennessee.

The three nights of preliminaries start in Jackson on Wednesday leading up to Saturday’s finale where the winner receives a $13,000 scholarship, becomes the governor’s spokesperson for Character Education and the state Children’s Miracle Network goodwill ambassador along with advancing to the Miss America competition. The winner will also become the final Miss Tennessee to compete in a swimsuit category as the Miss America Organization recently announced that the controversial segment is ending effective with September’s national finals in Atlantic City.

The state pageant can be viewed via live stream at www.eplustv6.com from 9-11:30 p.m. all four nights.

The Memphis native who relocated to Chattanooga last September to begin her graduate studies finished as runner-up to current state titleholder Caty Davis a year ago.  The only year she has failed to score a top five placement was her rookie appearance in 2014 and since then she has been a second runner-up (2015) and a third runner-up (2016).

Miss Williamson who received her undergraduate degree in Broadcast Journalism at the University of Mississippi has been a passionate advocate for her social impact (formerly platform) Alzheimer’s Awareness: Advocating, Fundraising and Providing Hope.  Alzheimer’s claimed the lives of both of her grandfathers and a great-grandfather.  She is the 2018 recipient of the Outstanding Achievement in Advocacy Award from the Alzheimer’s Association.  She has travelled to both Nashville and Washington D.C. on behalf of the organization and has met with many political leaders including Governor Bill Haslam, Senators Bob Corker and Lamar Alexander, Congressman Chuck Fleischmann and Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke.

She is also a volunteer with Children’s at Erlanger where she frequently visits the patients along with being involved in the Believe campaign.

Miss Williamson is not the only Hamilton County resident competing in Jackson.  Soddy-Daisy’s Brittany Davis who is interning at the Anderson County District Attorney’s office is representing Williamson County.  Ms. Davis is a pre-law student at Bellevue University and a graduate of Pellissippi State Community College.

University of Tennessee graduate and incoming first year student at the William and Mary School of Law Meredith Maroney of Jackson is Miss Scenic City, Middle Tennessee State University graduate Kristen Perry is Miss Tennessee Valley and Lee University junior Hannah Minear is Miss Shelby County.
