Employees of PlayCore and members of the Kiwanis Club of Chattanooga will join efforts Saturday in building a music park outside the campus of Clifton Hills Elementary, near the playground they jointly installed in 2018. These volunteers, plus Kiwanians from other area clubs, will gather at 8:30 a.m. to begin the installation of 10 instruments and complete various other projects to beautify the area.
“PlayCore and the Kiwanis Club of Chattanooga have partnered in an annual Day of Caring event for the past four years,” said Sande Lambert, president of the Kiwanis Club of Chattanooga. “We’re thrilled to continue our relationship with PlayCore so we can continue providing outdoor play opportunities for youth in underserved communities.”
Music parks benefit every member of the community, but few communities have a music program available where everyone can participate. The new music park at Clifton Hills Elementary School will not only provide an outdoor music experience that will benefit the student body, but it will also serve as a multi-generational, socially engaging space where the community can interact and engage.
The music park installation will also hold special significance for the Kiwanis Club, in that it will be dedicated in memory of David Linn, a valued member who tirelessly volunteered his time to Kiwanis. Mr. Linn thoroughly enjoyed participating in any and all service projects and was usually the first person to show up on the day of the event. Sadly, he passed away last year. Dedicating the music park and playground feels like an appropriate way to honor him, said officials.
