The city of Chattanooga is donating property valued at $1,157,600 at the Harriet Tubman site in East Chattanooga to a paint firm that is planning a $60 million development there.
Nippon Paint plans to hire 150 workers at the facility.
The property being donated was appraised last December.
The city is also providing a new right-of-way at the east side of the property. It will connect Roanoke Avenue with an extension of Hardy Street. The city says that new road will be completed no later than June 30, 2022.
Also, the city is agreeing to relocate a sewer line that goes across the property. It will be moved to the south boundary.
The city is hiring Wright Brothers Construction of Charleston, Tn., to do the sewer relocation under a $1.29 million contract.
The Tubman public housing project was initially at the site.
The city plans to set up a TIF District (Tax Increment Financing) to help pay for the Tubman site improvements over a longer period.
