Here is the TDO Region 2 Roadway Activity Report:

DISTRICT 28

BLEDSOE COUNTY SR-28 Slope stabilization in Bledsoe County near LM 28.8: The contractor is working on SR-28 north from mile marker 28.7 to 28.9. The roadway will be reduced to one lane controlled by a traffic signal. Large trucks heading South on SR-28, down the mountain are encouraged to use extreme caution.  Estimated project completion date is April 2020.

FRANKLIN COUNTY Utility Work on SR-127 (AEDC RD.) in oth directions from LM 4.12 to LM 4.5: Intermittent lane closures along AEDC Road between MM 4 and Paynes Church Rd as crews transition down the road. Signage and flaggers will be present. Motorists should use caution. 9 AM - 3 PM, on 01/06/20.

 

GRUNDY COUNTY Slope stabilization on SR-50 in both directions at LM 9.82: The roadway is reduced to one lane and signalized 24/7 due to a roadway settlement. The slope repair contractor has begun work on permanent repairs. Estimated project completion date is January 2020.

MARION COUNTY SR-2 (US-64, US-72, US-41) Emergency slope stabilization between LM 25.20 and LM 26.40: Progress work continues on this project. The contractor will continue to maintain one lane of travel open to traffic with the restrictions of all wide loads. At this time, traffic signals are installed and will remain in place until the project is complete. Motorists are encouraged to use caution and be alert to construction personnel and equipment. RESTRICTIONS: Restriction of all wide loads will remain in place until project is complete.

WARREN COUNTY SR-288 Construction of a concrete bulb-tee beam bridge over Collins River (LM 4.97), including grading, drainage and paving: The bridge is currently reduced to one 10.5-foot lane to allow the contractor to construct the new bridge. While the bridge is down to one lane, traffic will be maintained and controlled by a temporary signal. Motorists should expect periodic delays and use caution in the work zone. RESTRICTIONS: 10.5 foot lane. Estimated project completion date is December 2019.

DISTRICT 29

HAMILTON COUNTY I-75 at I-24 Interchange Reconstruction: Phase 1 traffic shifts have been implemented. Traffic should expect multiple lane shifts traveling through the interchange. Lane closures will occur Sunday nights through Thursdays night between 9 PM and 6 AM at the following locations: I-75 NB at state line, I-75 NB MM 2, I-75 SB MM 3, I-24 EB MM 185, I-24 WB 185. Traffic pacing will also occur for I-75 NB, I-75 SB, and I-24 EB. Additionally, shoulders may be closed at various locations between 9 AM and 3 PM for access to the median and roadside areas. The speed limit has been reduced to 45 MPH throughout the interchange. On Spring Creek Road beginning on 12/15/19 through 12/19/19 there will be nighttime flagging operations.

HAMILTON COUNTY US-27 (I-124) Widening from I-24/US-27 interchange to north of the Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River, including widening the Olgiati Bridge: Work on this project continues with activities occurring on the west side of southbound US-27. Motorists should be alert for construction vehicles entering and exiting the area along the access ramps for eastbound and westbound M. L. King Boulevard. The speed limit for the access ramp is 35 MPH. In addition, the southbound ramp from W. Main St.to southbound US-27 has been temporarily closed and will remain so until further notice. Detours are posted. Motorists should pay close attention to the detour signage posted. The speed limit on US-27 in the construction zone remains 45 MPH. Weather permitting; the contractor may implement temporary lane/shoulder closures on Thursday night between the hours of 7 PM and 6 AM. At least one lane will remain open in each direction on US-27. HAMILTON COUNTY Utility Work on SR-317 (BONNY OAKS DR.) in both directions from LM 1.18 to LM 1.18: Bonny Oaks will be reduced to one lane between in each direction between Jersey Pike and Redland Drive. Arrow boards, barrels and signage will be present. Motorists should use caution through the area and be aware of personnel and equipment. Motorists should seek an alternate route if possible. 10 PM to 5 AM from 12/16/19 through 12/19/19.

HAMILTON COUNTY Utility Work on SR-319 (HIXSON PK.) eastbound from LM 8.09 to LM 809: A single lane closure of the eastbound lane will occur between Big Ridge Road and Gold Crest Drive. Arrow board, signage and cones will be present. Motorists should use caution through the area, be aware of personnel and equipment. 9 AM to 2 PM from 01/06/20 through 01/10/20.

 

HAMILTON COUNTY Utility Work on SR-319 (HIXSON PK.) eastbound from LM 9.89 to LM 9.89: A single lane closure of the eastbound lane will occur between Gold Point Lane and Hideaway Lane. Arrow board, signage and cones will be present. Motorists should use caution through the area, be aware of personnel and equipment. 9 AM to 2 PM from 01/06/20 through 01/10/20.

 

HAMILTON COUNTY Utility Work on SR-319 (HIXSON PK.) northbound from LM 11.53 to LM 11.53: A single lane closure of the northbound lane will occur between Horne Road and McConnell School Lane. Signage and cones will be present. Motorists should use caution through the area, be aware of personnel and equipment. 9 AM to 2 PM on 12/19/19.

 

HAMILTON COUNTY Utility Work on SR-320 (E. BRAINERD RD.) in both directions from LM 1.97 to LM 2.82: Mobile lane closures along East Brainerd Road will occur as crews transition the work zone between North Concord Lane and North Joiner Lane. Signage and flaggers will be present. Motorists should use caution. 10 PM - 5 AM, from 12/16/19 through 12/19/19.

 

HAMILTON COUNTY Utility Work on SR-320 (E. BRAINERD RD.) eastbound from LM 0.70 to LM 1.0: Mobile lane closures will occur along East Brainerd Road as crews transition the work zone between Walker Street and Vance Road. Signage and flaggers will be present. Motorists should use caution. 9 AM - 2 PM, on 12/19/19.

 

HAMILTON COUNTY Utility Work on SR-8 (CHEROKEE BLVD.) in both directions from LM 11.35 to LM 11.10: Dayton Blvd will be reduced to one lane in each direction at 901 Cherokee Blvd and 1000 Dayton Blvd. Arrow board, cones, and signage will be present. Motorists should use caution through the area and be aware of personnel and equipment. 9 AM to 3 PM on 12/19/19.

 

HAMILTON COUNTY Utility Work on SR-8 (CHEROKEE BLVD.) northbound from LM 11.43 to LM 11.48: Dayton Blvd will be reduced to one northbound lane at Ashmore Ave. Arrow board, vertical panels, cones, and signage will be present. Motorists should use caution through the area and be aware of personnel and equipment. 9 AM to 2 PM from 01/06/20 through 01/11/20.

 

HAMILTON COUNTY Cleaning of the McCallie Tunnel on SR-2 (US-64, US-11), the Stringers Ridge Tunnel on SR-8 (US-127), and the Bachman Tubes on SR-8 (US-76, US-41): On Wednesday night,12/18 (8 PM to 6AM), the McCallie tunnel will be closed for cleaning. This will be supported by a flagging operation. Later that night, the Stringer's Ridge tunnel will be cleaned, supported by a signed detour. The Bachman Tubes (SR-8) will be closed for cleaning on Thursday night, 12/19 (8 PM to 6 AM). This operation will be supported by a signed detour. Estimated project completion date is June 2020.

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-153 Resurfacing from north of Shallowford Road (LM 2.6) to north of SR-58 (LM 4.8), including bridge deck repair: There will be lane closures to remove construction signs. Estimated project completion date is December 2019.

MCMINN COUNTY SR-30, Grading, drainage and paving on SR-30 from Jackson Street to east of Knight Road in Athens: Traffic along SR-30 is in its phase two configuration with all traffic on the former eastbound side, providing one lane in each direction plus turning lanes at critical intersections and businesses Estimated project completion date is June 2020.

MEIGS COUNTY SR-58 Repair of bridge over Hiwassee River (LM 5.22): During this report period, the contractor will have the roadway reduced to one lane controlled by temporary traffic signals. Additional flaggers will be on site as needed.

POLK COUNTY SR-40 (US-64) Repair of bridges over North Potato Creek (LM 26.93): During this reporting period, the contractor will be working on the phase 2 removal of the eastbound bridge deck. Repair work will continue on the westbound bridge deck. Traffic on US-64 is reduced to one lane in each direction for the duration of this work. Motorists are advised to reduce speed in the work zone due to reduced lane widths. RESTRICTIONS: No loads wider than 12 ft. are allowed at LM 26.93 westbound. Estimated project completion date is April 2020.

RHEA COUNTY TDOT Slope Stabilization on SR-68 (WASSOM MEMORIAL HIGHWAY) in both directions at LM 5.5: The roadway is reduced to one lane and signalized 24/7 due to a roadway settlement. The slope repair contractor has begun work on permanent repairs.

RHEA COUNTY SR-29 (US-27) Resurfacing from north of SR-60 (4.9) to Landes Way (6.5) including bridge repair: On Thursday night, 12/19 (8 PM - 6 AM) there will be lane closures affecting NB & SB traffic to support shoulder stone installation.  Estimated project completion date is December 2019.

RHEA COUNTY SR-30 Grading, drainage and paving from west of New Union Road/White Oak Road (LM 12.6) to Sky Drive (LM 12.9): During this report period, the contractor will be performing grading and drainage operations along SR-30 and New Union Road During the initial phase, traffic will be maintained on SR-30, White Oak Drive, and New Union Road in its current pattern. Flaggers will be on-site to assist with heavy equipment entering and exiting existing roadways.
