Shots Break Out Between 2 Cars On Tennessee Avenue In St. Elmo; Gunfire Reported Outside Coyote Jacks, Which Announces No More "Urban" Music

Shots broke out between two cars on Tennessee Avenue in St. Elmo on Thursday afternoon.

Neighbors said some 20 shots were fired.

Police said, "CPD responded to an aggravated assault call in the 4600 block of Tennessee Avenue at 3:48 p.m. yesterday.

"Witnesses stated to police they saw people in two different vehicles shooting at each other.

"Officers collected some shell casings in the area. No injuries were reported.

"CPD's Gun Team is investigating."  

Also, residents who live near Coyote Jacks on the Southside said there were multiple shots fired at 14th and Cowart early Sunday morning.

One neighbor said, "Multiple shots were fired Sunday morning at 14th and Cowart.  CPD on scene with large presence. Several 911 calls were  placed from those woken by the gun shots." 

Neighbors estimated 20-30 shots were fired and numerous police cars sped to the scene.

Elisa Myzal, police spokesperson, said, "Shots Fired call at 3:00 a.m. on 2/24/19 in the area of 1400 Cowart St. Do not have number of shots, though. No confirmed suspect info."

She said there was an incident report written up, but it would not be released to the public.

She stated, "Incident reports are made available to the public once the case is closed and prosecution is complete. These files are protected under 16(a)(2) of the Tennessee Open Records Act. Incident reports can be released in some instances before an arrest or the end of prosecution, but that is only with the approval of the investigator and/or prosecutor. The incident report you are requesting is not approved for release."

Meanwhile Coyote Jacks management said the place is under renovation and this will be the last weekend under its current format.

The announcement said there will be no "urban" music at the revamped club.

It is owned by Ronnie Berke and Tammie Taylor.
