Nina Joann Blanchard, 78, a resident of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 21, 2019 surrounded by her family.

Born on November 1, 1940 in Columbia, SC she was the daughter to the late Earl R. and Mary Strickland DuPriest.  She was an avid church goer and sang in the choir at First Baptist Church of Hixson, a Girl Scout leader for 12 years and loved her family, friends and pets.  She was a member of Toastmaster and the Phi Theta Kappa at Chattanooga State where she earned an accounting degree.

Ms. Blanchard was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Marion J. Blanchard; brother, Earl DuPriest, Jr. and sister, Jean DuPriest.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Jo (George) Tallent; grandchildren, Tyler (Lindsey) Shoemaker; Ceyla Shoemaker; great-granddaughters, Kaylee and Addison Shoemaker all of Chattanooga.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at noon on Tuesday, March 26, in the chapel of Hamilton Funeral Home with Dr. Steven Granger and Reverend Terry Shannon officiating.  Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends from 4–7 p.m. on Monday, March 25, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
