John Collier
John Craig Collier, 70, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, died on May 9, 2019.
He was born in Atlanta, on July 24, 1948, the son of John Berry and Beatrice Elizabeth Collier. John was a graduate of Chattanooga High School and attended Chattanooga State Community College. John was a lifelong Chattanooga resident and retired from NAPA Automotive after many years of service. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he was awarded two Purple Hearts for valor during the Vietnam War.
John is survived by his wife, Jan Collier; three daughters, Brooke, Brandi, and Jennifer Collier. Two sisters, Brenda Jones and Sandra Vice, two stepchildren, James and Brandy Ayers; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 12, at 2 p.m. in the Lane Funeral Home Chapel, 601 Ashland Terrace in Chattanooga, with Reverend James Blackman officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Nick Jones, Poet Jones, Hugh Vice, Jack Vice, Punk Ayers and Jason Hargis. Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Underhill, Rick McManus, Bill Shackleford, Bob Mason, Sam Headrick, Bill Lewis, and Greg Davis.
Visitation for friends and family will be on Saturday, May 11, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be held on Monday, May 13, at 2:30 p.m. in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors.
