TDOT To Hold Public Meeting July 23 On Planned Improvements For Signal Mountain Boulevard From Bottom To Top Of Mountain

The Tennessee Department of Transportation will hold a public information mMeeting to discuss short-term and long-term plans for improvements to US-127/Signal Mountain Boulevard.

 

The project is from north of Suck Creek Road at the base of the mountain to north of Palisades Drive on the top of the mountain.

 

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 23, from  5-7 p.m.

in the cafeteria of the Signal Mountain Middle-High School located at 2650 Sam Powell Dr., Signal Mountain.

 

There will be a short PowerPoint presentation given at 5:30 p.m. Representatives from TDOT will be available to provide information on various aspects of the plans for future improvements to US-127/Signal Mountain Boulevard.

 

TDOT has dealt with some slides on the steep roadway to the populous mountain community in recent years.

 

TDOT in March conducted geo-technical drilling in sections along the route.

 

The only other options up the mountain are the twisty W Road with its series of switchbacks at the top and, further north, Roberts Mill Road.
