The Bradley County Finance Committee will meet Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the County Commission conference room to discuss the 2019-2020 budget proposal.budget proposal that includes an 11-cent property tax increase.
Officials said it is designed to fund the following: General Fund 101 – 1.948 pennies; Road Department Fund 131 – 1 penny for paving; Debt Service Fund 151 – 5.652 pennies for the PIE Center; Other Capital Projects Fund 189 – 2.426 pennies.
Also on Monday, the Bradley County Commission will hold public hearings on the proposed tax increase.
Officials said, "Last month, the Bradley County Commission published notice of a public hearing on July 8 in the Bradley County Courthouse at noon on the county’s intent to exceed the certified tax rate.
"At last night’s voting session, Commissioner Charlotte Peak announced she would also be available at 7 p.m. on July 8 in the County Commission room of the Bradley County Courthouse to listen to the public voice their opinions on the proposed tax increase.
"Commissioner Peak invited other county commissioners to attend and to listen to their constituents."
