A couple has been charged with stealing money from an elderly woman who has been living at an assisted living facility.
The Hamilton County Grand Jury indicted Loren Coppinger and Travis Drummy. Both are 29 and live at 420 Mission Ridge Road, Rossville.
They are charged with theft of identity, conspiracy to commit theft of identity and exploitation of an elderly adult.
The indictment says Ms. Coppinger was an employee at Eagle Crest Assisted Living at 8248 Standifer Gap Road and was directly involved in the care of the woman.
It says between Jan. 1 and March 22 of this year the pair used checks on the account of the woman to draw out funds at Tennessee Valley Credit Union.
These involved at least 10 checks totaling $3,450 and at least seven withdrawals totaling $492, it was stated.
