The United States Senate on Thursday confirmed Chattanoogan Bill Kilbride to serve on the TVA Board of Directors.
Mr. Kilbride was formerly president of the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce.
Senator Lamar Alexander said, “Bill is an accomplished businessman and has provided strong leadership to his community as CEO of the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce. He understands TVA’s mission -- providing low cost, reliable, and clean power to the residents and businesses in the seven state TVA region.
I have no doubt he will be an outstanding TVA Board Member, and I look forward to working with him as a member of the Board.”
After President Trump announced his intent to nominate Kilbride, Senator Alexander said he would provide “strategic leadership” to the TVA Board of Directors. The Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works approved the Kilbride nomination on June 19.
Rep. Chuck Fleischmann said, “I am thrilled to hear that the Senate voted to confirm Bill Kilbride to the TVA Board of Directors. I know Bill will bring an abundance of knowledge and expertise to the TVA Board. From his track record of success at Mohawk Industries, to his time leading the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce to be recognized as the 2017 Chamber of the Year, Bill has demonstrated he knows how successful businesses work and how to take great organizations to new heights. President Trump could not have nominated a better individual, and I look forward to witnessing all he does for the Tennessee Valley.”
