Church On Rossville Boulevard Damaged By Fire Friday Afternoon

The cause of a church fire on Rossville Boulevard is under investigation, but the quick action of a Good Samaritan allowed firefighters to get on scene quickly. 

 

It happened at 1:24 p.m.

on Friday at the corner of Rossville Boulevard and East 37th Street at Iglesia Pentecostes Del Principe De Paz.

 

A passerby noticed heavy black smoke coming out of a window in the back of the church and alerted authorities. 

 

Police officers forced open a door and were met with more black smoke. Firefighters arrived on the scene and put the fire out quickly.

 

It happened inside a classroom. 

 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

 

No one was at the church at the time, but crews conducted two searches to confirm.

 

There were no injuries.

 

Station 1, Station 5, Station 9, Station 4 and Battalion 1 & 2 responded, along with HCEMS, Chattanooga police and EPB.
