Millican, Sarah VaLera Evitt (Chickamauga)

Sarah VaLera Evitt Millican, 95, of Chickamauga, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2020.

She was a lifelong resident of Walker County and a member of the LaFayette First Baptist Church. She was vivacious and enjoyed life on the farm. Even when her family experienced hard times, Sarah was known for her determination and unshakeable faith. She graduated from Cedar Grove High School in 1943 as valedictorian, and later that year she married her husband of 50 plus years, T.J. Millican.

Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Lee Evitt and Lena Gladys Andrews Evitt; son-in-law, Lee Kelley; sisters, Wilfred Parrish, Betty Rose Moore, Margery King, and Martha McGill; and brother, Alfred Evitt.

She is survived by her daughters, MaryBeth Millican of LaFayette and Cynthia Kelley of Chickamauga; sons and daughters-in-law, Kim and Carol Millican and Alex and Shirley Millican all of Chickamauga; grandchildren, Kimelan, Sarah (Sally), Kelly, Beth, Rachel, Sarah Lee, and Laura Frances; 11 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; sister-in-law, Barbara Sentell; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at LaFayette First Baptist Church with Pastor Derrick Fielder officiating.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Antioch Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Kimelan Millican, Kelly Millican, Tyler Whitten, Lee Millican, Will Marsden, and Jake Cabe.

Honorary pallbearers are Matt Cabe, Silas Koch, Trey Marsden, and Chris McHugh.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Antioch Cemetery Fund P.O. Box 665, Chickamauga, Ga. 30707.

Arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, LaFayette.
