Chattanooga Attorney Gets 2nd Public Censure In A Year

  • Tuesday, November 24, 2020

Charles Gammons Wright, a Chattanooga attorney licensed to practice law in Tennessee, has received a Public Censure from the Supreme Court of Tennessee.

The Board of Professional Responsibility filed a Petition for Discipline against Mr. Wright pursuant to Rule 9 of the Rules of the Supreme Court of Tennessee. A Hearing Panel found Mr. Wright negligently disclosed client confidential information in an affidavit filed with his Motion to Withdraw from representation.

Mr. Wright was ordered to pay the costs of the disciplinary proceeding.

His conduct violated Rules of Professional Conduct 1.6 (Confidentiality), it was stated.

A public censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but it does not affect the attorney’s ability to practice law.

It was the second public censure of the year for attorney Wright.

In February, the Board of Professional Responsibility filed a Petition for Discipline against Mr. Wright pursuant to Rule 9 of the Rules of the Supreme Court of Tennessee.  A Hearing Panel found Mr. Wright failed to advise his client of the one-year statute of limitations prior to its expiration and did not notify his client of the termination of his representation.  Mr. Wright was ordered to pay the costs of the disciplinary proceeding. Charles Wright’s conduct violated Rules of Professional Conduct 1.16(d) (Declining and Terminating Representation), and 8.4(a) (misconduct) and is hereby Publicly Censured for these violations, it was stated.
