PHOTOS: Lakeside Academy Where CSLA Will Move

The Hamilton County School board on Thursday voted 6-3 to move the Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts from its aging facility in the former Elbert Long School off East Brainerd Road to Lakeside Academy off Jersey Pike near Highway 58.

Students at the Lakeside Academy of Math, Science and Technology — which serves Pre-K through 5th grade — are scheduled to begin attending the new Harrison Elementary by Brown Middle School farther north off Highway 58 beginning in January.
Officials then plan to begin work on a state-of-the-art makeover of Lakeside to be completed by August 2022.

The current Lakeside Academy was built in the mid-20th century, with a rear addition constructed a number of years later. The school also has a playground in the rear, a baseball/softball field on its south end and a large greenway path that connects to the Lakeside Youth Sports Complex.
