Walker And Whitfield Counties Each Have More COVID-19 Deaths; Georgia Has 40 More Deaths

Georgia state health officials reported on Wednesday there have been an additional 40 deaths due to the coronavirus. The new total is 5,311.

There were 2,322 new cases as that total reached 260,590 confirmed cases of coronavirus. 

Hospitalizations are at 23,939, up 222 since Tuesday. 

Here are the numbers by county:

Catoosa County: 816 cases, up 7; 17 deaths; 61 hospitalizations, up 1

Chattooga County: 491 cases, up 26; 5 deaths; 30 hospitalizations, up 5

Dade County: 186 cases, up 3; 3 deaths; 13 hospitalizations

Walker County: 942 cases, up 17; 21 deaths, up 1; 52 hospitalizations, up 2

Whitfield County: 3,878 cases, up 19; 49 deaths, up 2; 206 hospitalizations, up 1

The cases remain centered around the Atlanta area:

Cobb County: 16,369 cases, up 225; 381 deaths, up 8

DeKalb County: 16,193 cases, up 107; 287 deaths

Fulton County: 24,211 cases, up 224; 497 deaths

Gwinnett County: 23,636 cases, up 225; 314 deaths, up 5
