Dorothy Lee Barnes, “Nig”, 79, of Chattanooga, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, in a local hospital.

She attended Howard High School. Later in life, she moved to Kansas and eventually to New York where she lived for many years. Upon moving back to Chattanooga, she became a member of Westside Baptist Church and often visited Trinity Baptist Church. Dorothy was a member of the United Methodist Women’s Club.

Survivors include her children, Deborah Ross, Fred William, Jr., Derayln Williams, and Tyana Babb; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Joann Ballard; brother-in-law, Reginald Pruitt; Godson, Michael Parks; best friend, Betty Stewart; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Dorothy will lie in state on Friday, Oct. 29, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at 1 p.m. in Forest Hills Cemetery with Pastor Steve Underwood giving words of comfort.
