Hosea Pierce, Jr., affectionately known as “Bubba,” passed away on April 24, 2025, at the age of 66, surrounded by his devoted family. Born on June 29, 1958, to Hosea Pierce, Sr., and Shirley Pierce Steele. Bubba brought joy to all who knew him.

A proud graduate of Brainerd High School, class of 1976, Hosea went on to serve his country as a dedicated United States Army Veteran for seven years. Following his service, he enjoyed a rewarding career of 25 years with the Electric Power Board, where he earned the nickname “Dr. Shock” among local schools.

Hosea found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, especially hunting alongside his lifelong friends, "The Magnificent Six" (which now only leaves five) - Ike, Danny, Mon, Todd, and Richard. Known for his rich radio voice, quick wit, and trademark sarcasm, Bubba could light up any room. He loved singing, watching westerns, photography, videography, gardening and being a DJ. And he loved sharing his favorite quote: “A lie don’t care who tells it!” He also wrote, directed and starred in his own play that he named "Jesus on Trial".

He was predeceased by his parents, Hosea Pierce, Sr., and Shirley Pierce Steele, sister, Cathy Rochelle Pierce and grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Robert & Eddie Lou Pierce and Mr. & Mrs. Virgil & Lousie Kirkland, as well as his cherished canine companion, Al.

Left to honor his memory are his loving wife of eight years, Billie Jones (BJ) Pierce; his son, Hosea Pierce, III; his step-daughters, Amara Pitts and Alea Pitts; sisters, Cynthia (Autry) Jones, Regina Pierce, Faye (Horace) Besley, and Sabrina Williams; brother, Michael Pierce of Atlanta, Georgia; father & mother-in-law, Willie and Gloria Jones, along with many other treasured in-laws and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

A public viewing will be held on Monday, May 5, from 2-6 p.m., with family receiving friends from 4-6 p.m.

Arrangements are entrusted to John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, Chattanooga, Tn., 423 622-9995.
