Hamilton County 911 Emergency Communications District on Friday will be donating a check of $6,000 to the Forgotten Child Fund during their last big Toy and Money Drive of the year.
The funds were raised by the Telecommunicators and Staff at Hamilton County 911-ECD throughout the year during various fundraisers, spearheaded by the Cares Committee. The Cares Committee is a group of Telecommunicator representatives from all three shifts that coordinate fundraising activities to help benefit those in need throughout the community. This is the fifth year that the Cares Committee has donated to the Forgotten Child Fund.
“The Cares Committee has annual holiday fundraisers that benefit the Chattanooga area,” said Jared Pelham, chair of the Cares Committee. “This year is the most money we have raised for the Forgotten Child Fund. All credit and thanks goes to our amazing family here at the District. Every time there is a need to help others, they always go over and beyond.”
The Forgotten Child Fund based in Chattanooga is a non-profit organization comprised of emergency service personnel that donate their time to provide a better Christmas for the needy, particularly by collecting toys and money for children.
Representatives of Hamilton County 911-ECD will be presenting the donation at Walmart on 2020 Gunbarrel Road, one of five local Walmarts that will be taking collections for the Forgotten Child Fund and US 101 Toy and Money Drive on Friday from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
“I am continually impressed with the compassion and generosity of our team in helping others,” said John Stuermer, executive director for the District.
