Police Blotter: Thief Converts 1 To A 7 On Stolen Check; Man Was Just Sleeping While Girlfriend Got A Perm

A woman called police and said she was leaving the Walmart parking lot, 490 Greenway View Dr., when she saw a man get into a white Chevy ABS. The woman said the alarm went off inside the car as it drove away. She provided the Tennessee tag number. Police checked the area but did not notice the vehicle. Police also ran the vehicle and it came back negative as stolen.

Police responded to an apartment complex on Citico Avenue. A man said he had reported another man to the administration of the apartments for hanging around the site, which resulted in that man being trespassed from the premises.
The man said that now the trespassed man and some of his friends have been threatening him and calling him a snitch. The man said he wanted a report to give to the apartment management.

Officers responded to a disorder prevention at a residence on N. Germantown Road. They spoke with a man who said he was thrown out of his friend's home where he had been staying. He said he wanted to get his and his mother's clothing he left inside the friend's home. Officers made contact with the friend and she agreed to allow the man to collect his belongings. The man gathered his clothes and left without further incident.

Police responded to a property damage at Northgate Mall. A man said someone hit the driver side rear fender of his vehicle. The man described the car as a Ford Escape and gave the Tennessee tag number. The man said the person driving the vehicle did not speak English and just continued to walk inside the mall. The man said he was going to report it to his insurance company.

While on patrol on 8th Avenue, an officer noticed a Nissan Altima come past him and come to a complete stop in the roadway. The officer found this to be suspicious and got behind it. It immediately kept cutting down side streets and the officer lost it before he could read the tag or activate his emergency equipment. Several minutes after the officer lost sight of the car, a call came in for an accident in the area where he had just been following the vehicle. The same vehicle was recovered at 4027 Kirkland Ave. It had front passenger side damage from the accident. The driver had fled on foot. A cell phone with a clear print on the screen was recovered and will be turned into property.

Police received a 9-1-1 call from a woman on Shallowford Road. The woman said she had an argument with her boyfriend and she had locked him out, but he kicked the door in, destroying both the door and the frame. Police repeatedly attempted to plead with the woman, however she refused to cooperate with police in providing information about her boyfriend's name, race, DOB, etc. Police checked the woman with an LAP Form, however she did not screen in and refused any further assistance. Since the woman refused to cooperate and there were no actionable leads, police left the scene.

A man on Swan Road said a check had been stolen from his mailbox. He said the check was made out to Samaritan's Purse for the amount of $131. He was notified by Suntrust Bank on Lee Highway that the check was cashed by a person using the name Tony Carmen Pyburo for the amount of $731. He said that he is already in contact with Suntrust about reimbursing the funds that were fraudulently taken. There is no other suspect information at this time.

Police were called by a woman on Hunt Drive who said someone had used her identity to hack into her Facebook account and she can't access it anymore because they have locked her out. Also, she said her Cash App account info was used for an illegal charge for $395 at a Walgreens in Chattanooga. She said she doesn't know which Walgreens it was done at and she's not sure if it was done in person or online.

Police responded to Hair Benders, 1615 Gunbarrel Road, on reports of a man sleeping in a car at the salon. Police made contact with the man and identified him. He said his girlfriend was in the salon getting her hair done and he fell asleep in the car.

Police responded to 400 Hwy 153 NB and spoke with a woman who said that she was traveling on Highway 153 NB when she struck a large piece of metal in the roadway. She said that it wedged beneath her vehicle after she struck it. Police observed a large piece of metal wedged beneath her vehicle that had also caused damage to her vehicle. The vehicle had to be towed from the scene by Les Wrecker.
