CSO Presents Live Concerts And Digital Performance Of Dvorak String Serenade

  • Friday, March 12, 2021

The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera will present Dvorák String Serenade live at Signal Crest United Methodist on Thursday, March 18, and Friday, March 19, at 7 p.m. Patrons who prefer to experience the concert from home can also purchase access to a livestream of Thursday’s performance for $10 per household.

The program will include Dvorák‘s joyous Serenade for Strings, one his most popular works, alongside Beethoven’s Duo For Clarinet And Bassoon and Poulenc’s Sonata For Clarinet and Bassoon.

“For this concert, we are featuring two unique works for clarinet and bassoon duo by Poulenc and Beethoven,” said CSO Music Director Kayoko Dan. “The combination of these two instruments creates a unique blend and, at times, contrast of colors. In addition to the duos, we are performing Dvorák‘s Serenade for Strings. This work was written shortly after the birth of Dvorák‘s son, and it embodies beauty, optimism, playfulness, and elegance, which I believe is essential in our lives right now.”

Concerts in the First Horizon Foundation Instrumental Series feature smaller ensembles of musicians, limited audience sizes, and socially distanced seating. Tickets will not be sold at the venue and attendees will be required to wear masks, follow social distancing guidelines, and adhere to the CSO's COVID-19 related concert health and safety standards, which can be found at chattanoogasymphony.org/concert-health-safety.

A very limited number of seats remain for these live performances, and patrons are strongly encouraged to purchase their tickets soon. Tickets for CSO performances or livestreams are available at www.chattanoogasymphony.org or by contacting the CSO Box Office at 267-8583. The box office is also open for limited office hours to assist patrons in-person each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at 736 Georgia Ave., Suite 101.
