Donald Brown
Donald Eugene Brown, 89, died on August 8, 2021, at a local hospital.
He was born in the East Brainerd section of Chattanooga in 1931 and was a graduate of Tyner High 1950, where he was a standout athlete.
He served our country in the U.S. Army and was a retired veteran. Donald was the owner/operator of the Donald E. Brown Construction Company. He was a longtime resident of East Brainerd and a descendant of many generations of Hamilton County, Tn. He was a member of the East Brainerd Church of Christ.
He was predeceased by his parents, Silas S. and Nora (Blackwell) Brown; his wife of 66 years, Patty (Cobble) Brown; brothers, Jesse L. Brown, Sr., James S. Brown, Sr., Paul K. Brown, Sr., William J. Brown, and sisters, Christine Cotter Miller, Wilma Fussell, Norma Boyd Wine, and Sarah Sue Ferguson.
Donald is survived by his children, Charles (Joyce) Brown, Mike (Bettye) Brown, and Donna (David) Fitzgerald; seven grandchildren, Josef Wiggins, Jesse Brown, Arin Brown, Meaghan Fitzgerald, Walker Fitzgerald, Lyle Stewart, Travis Stewart; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, JoAnn Gibbs, and one brother, Charles Robert Brown, Sr., and many nieces and nephews.
“Big Daddy” was a good and righteous man who was constant about treating “the least of these” with kindness and compassion.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The Salvation Army, Chattanooga Community Kitchen, The Shriners, or a charity of your choice.
Due to the continuing health concerns, a memorial service will be held at a later date at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
