Spencer E. Thompson, Sr., 85, of Hixson, passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021.

 

Spencer was born in Trion, Ga., to the late OC and Velma Ruth Thompson.  He served our country in the U.S. Army, Airborne 82nd Division during the Korean War.  Spencer retired from the Local 43, Plumbers and Steamfitters.  He was of the Baptist faith and a Mason. 

 

Spencer is survived by his wife of almost 68 years, Norma E. Thompson; children, Brenda Mann, Spencer Eugene Thompson, Jr., Teresa (Rick) Hardy, and Michael Thompson; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Glenn (Barbara) Thompson; sister, Faye (Bobby) Teater; several nieces and nephews.    

 

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 3, and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

 

A Celebration of Spencer’s life will follow at 1 p.m. on Saturday, at the North Chapel.  Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
