The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the greater Chattanooga area invites all young adults to participate in a devotional with Elder Ronald A. Rasband of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and his wife, Sister Melanie T. Rasband. Elder Clark G. Gilbert, General Authority Seventy, and his wife, Sister Christine C. Gilbert, will also be featured speakers. The devotional will be broadcast this Sunday at 7 p.m. at ChurchofJesusChrist.org, on YouTube and BYUtv.
Prior to his call as an Apostle, Elder Rasband served in various Church capacities.
Professionally, he served as president and chief operating officer of Huntsman Chemical Corporation and as a member of the board of directors. In 2000, he was called into the First Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, leaving his profession behind. In 2015, he was called to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, serving now as one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ. The Rasbands have five children.
Elder Gilbert is the past president of Brigham Young University-Idaho and past president of BYU-Pathway Worldwide. He received a doctor of business administration degree in 2001 from Harvard University. He was called as a General Authority Seventy in 2021. The Gilberts are the parents of eight children.
"The intent of young adult devotionals is to testify that Jesus Christ lives and that He is the Savior and Redeemer of the world. We invite all to come unto Christ. Please join us this Sunday at ChurchofJesusChrist.org," officials said.
