The Chattanooga Green Prix is an electric vehicle (EV) program for local elementary, middle and schools. Each semester, students design and build EV race cars that they then race at a two-day event. Over 25 student teams will race this Friday and Saturday at the Chattanooga Riverfront,160 Riverfront Pkwy., across from the Southern Belle. Elementary students will race on Friday and middle and high school students will race on Saturday.
The event is free to attend and is open to the public.
The Green Prix is organized by green|spaces. EPB is the title sponsor of the Chattanooga Green Prix. Additional support is received from the Lyndhurst Foundation, Fullgraf Foundation and Gestamp.
"The Green Prix is a fun way to engage students through hands-on STEM programming to develop work-force skills including teamwork along with electrical engineering, mechanics and aerodynamics," officials said. "Better yet, with several auto manufacturers and battery makers investing billions in Tennessee with plans to hire tens of thousands of people to produce electric vehicles, Green Prix represents an opportunity for students to learn concrete skills related to those future job opportunities."
