Member Of Spring Creek Church Of God; Retired From C&S Distributing

Lunie McCoy "Coy" Gilley, of Rossville, departed this earth on March 9, 2022 to rest in peace with his Heavenly Father. 

Coy is a member of Spring Creek Church of God. He was born July 23, 1935 to Oscar and Vera Durham Gilley, of Gerldine, Al. 

He lived the majority of his life in Rossville, where he excelled as a food broker and retired from C&S Distributing Company. Coy called on all the local grocery stores and neighborhood convenience stores. 

After retirement he returned to Geraldine, Al. to cattle farm and drive a school bus. He loved camping at Little Mountain Marina on Guntersville Lake, and spending the winters in Plant City, Fl. Coy enjoyed watching the Braves and college football.

Coy is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Vera Gilley; and five brothers, Osteen, Jeff, O.B., M.A. and Herbert Gilley.

Coy is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Shelby Jean Williamson Gilley, of Rossville; daughters, Deborah (Jack) Creech, of Sarasota Fl. and Ronda (Doug) Keener, of Dalton; son, Rocky (Connie) Gilley, of Garden City Beach, SC; seven grandchildren, Kelleye (Brandon) Rickman, David (Candice) Creech, Brittney (Nathan) Burton, Beth (Jared) Dent, Kyle Keener, Kristin (Katie) Gilley and Kasey (Brady) Reed; 11 great-grandchildren; and cousin, (Brother) O.H. Durham. 

We would like to thank Hearth Hospice of Fort Oglethorpe for their services, especially Ben Doss, Jackie Moore, Heather Ragsdale and Chris Speiker.

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 13 in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Morrell Upchurch and Pastor Bennie Mills officiating. 

Entombment will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 14 at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

The family will receive friends 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, March 13 at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway.
