Whitfield Deputy Gerald Cooley Earns Rotary Award

Whitfield County Deputy Gerald Cooley won the Vocational Excellence Award, presented annually by the Dalton Rotary Club. 

A 27-year veteran with the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Cooley has served as a detention officer, detention sergeant, Uniform Patrol, Traffic Unit, Accident Reconstruction and for the last seven years as a school resource officer assigned to Coahulla High School, Coahulla Elementary and Beaverdale Elementary.

Sheriff Scott Chitwood praised Deputy Cooley as being “a hard worker, dedicated, loyal, takes pride in his job, has great rapport with the staff and students, and is a friend, mentor, counselor, teacher, and role model to the students.”

Coahulla High School dedicated its 2022 yearbook to Deputy Cooley.
