Matt Adams Got My Vote - And Response

  • Monday, August 1, 2022

At one of the early county mayoral debates Weston Wamp asked the other two candidates to pledge that their respective campaigns would be void of personal attacks. Matt Hullander and Sabrena Smedley made the pledge – and kept their word.

In a campaign meeting a month before early voting, Matt was being pressured to go negative to assure a victory.

Matt said he had promised his family and supporters he would not go negative and regardless of outcome he wanted to be able to sleep at night knowing he had kept his campaign clean. Even if it meant losing, Matt said firmly his campaign would not go negative.

Soon after early voting began, supporters of Weston Wamp, led by his campaign chairman’s business partner, launched a series of vicious personal attacks on Sabrena and Matt. Four mailers hit practically every voter’s mailbox spewing lies about Sabrena and Matt while the airways were filled with vile mistruths. Weston denied he was responsible but said he supported the content of the messages.

Matt Adams was 17 when he enlisted in the Army and served eight years on active duty. Matt, a seventh generation Hamilton Countian, worked in national security law and criminal prosecution and defense. He learned over his time in the Army what it means to lead. He learned the importance of being humble and knowing that even if you are at the head of the table there are many folks who know more in their subject area. Collaboration, communication, and team work is what accomplishes the mission. Check out his website and, if you get the chance, speak to him. You will be glad you did.

Matt has the leadership to work on a bi-partisan level to move Hamilton County forward.

I proudly voted for Matt and I hope many of my fellow Hamilton County citizens will do the same.

I would like to thank Tom Decosimo for sharing his opinion regarding the Hamilton County mayoral election.  It is refreshing to see voters who are not beholden to a political party, but rather who make their decisions by evaluating a person’s character and job experience.

After reading Tom’s opinion article, I watched a video of the mayoral debates and I find Matt Adams to be sincere and forthright.  If he is elected, I trust that he will do what is right for Hamilton County in a transparent, collaborative, and honest administration.

We all want what is best for the citizens of our great community.  I hope that voters will choose based on the candidate, not the political party.  Hamilton County is too small, too interconnected, and definitely too good of a place, to choose its mayor solely on whether there is a “D” or an “R” next to their name on the ballot box.
