In hopes to encourage more entries in the Hamilton County Ag competitions for the fair in November, Old McDonald Farm in Sale Creek is offering free sunflower seeds for planting.
The farm is currently open for sunflower season Monday to Friday from 3 p.m. to sunset and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to sunset.
"We’re inviting kids, families and sunflower lovers of all ages to join in the fun by growing your own sunflower to enter in the Hamilton County Fair this November at Old McDonald Farm in Sale Creek," officials said.
Here’s how to join:

Stop by Aubie Smith Farms to pick up your free sunflower seeds—available now.
2. Plant them at home and care for your sunflower all season.
3. Once the Hamilton County Fair entry information is announced, complete your agriculture entry online at hamiltontnfair.com.
4. Bring your dried sunflower to the fair and be part of the celebration this fall.
Fair dates are Nov. 7–9 at Old McDonald Farm, 16705 Coulterville Road in Sale Creek.
