Denise Adeniyi
Denise Adeniyi, 58, was born March 28, 1965, to the late Morris and Lucille Bonnie Johnson. She made her transition in November 2023.
Denise Adeniyi received her bachelor’s in music education and master’s in music conducting from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. She was a musician and poet known by the name Divine performing locally and across the southeast region. She had a love for the arts blending poetry and music as a form of self-expression.
Divine was an avid reader and seeker of knowledge, always looking to expand her mind and perspective. She was a safe space for many and was deeply loved by her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, AdeSoji Adeniyi; her mom, Lucille Bonnie Johnson; her brothers, Calvin White, Jr. and Khalid Ya-Ghani; sister, Peaches Wade; grandson, Christopher Aiden Patterson.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her children, Charles E. Patterson, III, Kenya Iman Patterson, Foluke Abeni Adeniyi, and Titilayo Illesanmi; her father, Morris Johnson; her granddaughter, Gianna Patterson; a host of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
