Humane Educational Society is partnering with KZ106 radio to host the 4th annual Adopt-A-Thon on May 10 in memory of the late Kelly McCoy, Chattanooga rock radio personality and lifelong animal advocate.
For 10 years, Ms. McCoy hosted her weekly segment "Kelly's Pet Project" on KZ106 to give HES animals a spotlight and find them forever homes. Since her passing in 2022, HES has teamed up with KZ106 to memorialize Kelly's love for rock-n-roll and animals through ROCK ON Kelly's Adopt-A-Thon.
This year, the event will be held on May 10 at the Humane Educational Society. With fees waived for adult dogs, cats, kittens and rabbits, HES hopes to reach their goal of 47 adoptions that day, in recognition of KZ106's 47th year on-air.
From 11 a.m.-5 p.m., guests can come out to this free family-friendly event to jam out with the bands, shop local vendors, eat from area food trucks, and meet adoptable pets. Local legends FlashDrive and Priscilla and Little Rickee will be playing classic rock hits all day, while folks enjoy the market and find a furry friends to adopt.
HES invites the community to attend, whether they're looking to adopt a new best friend, or simply enjoy the concerts and vendors.
For those looking to adopt: HES encourages folks to fill out an adoption application online before the event to get pre-approved for adoption. Adoptions will be first come, first served, but early applicants will get first access to the animals before the doors open to the public at noon.
