Lee Men Finish Second At GSC Track Championship

The Lee University Men’s Track & Field team tallied 125.5 points on the final day of competition to finish second with 192.5 total points at the 2025 Gulf South Conference Track & Field Championships. Alabama Huntsville finished first with 266.5 points and Mississippi College was third (143). The Flames began Saturday trailing UAH by 21 points.

Cameron Stine began the day winning the decathlon javelin throw with a mark of 51.87 meters. Isaac Iosia finished seventh with a throw of 38.26 meters.
Stine was second in the decathlon 1500-meter run with a time of 4:53.18 and Iosia was seventh (5:33.07) to complete the decathlon. Stine finished first overall in the decathlon with 6,819 points. Iosia collected 5,012 points for seventh place.

Stine also placed fourth in the pole vault with a successful clearance of 4.10 meters. Jacob Atkinson was third with the same vault height.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Cooper Giddens, Aiden Shaw, Iosia and Eli Cobble placed fifth with a combined time of 42.31 seconds. Shaw placed second in the 500-meter dash at 47.99 seconds and Cobble stopped the clock at 48.25 seconds for third place. Giddens (50.40) was 14th and David Johnson was 16th (50.70). In the 100-meter dash, Giddens’ time of 11.38 seconds put him in 14th place.

Shaw gave the Flames another win in the 200-meter dash. He crossed the finish line at 21.33 seconds to win by 0.34 seconds. Cobble recorded a fifth-place finish at 22.14 seconds.

Camden Williams recorded an individual championship performance in the discus with a mark of 50.56 meters. Steven Conrad of Mississippi College was second at 49.49 meters. Braxton Philpott finished fifth with a throw of 43.43 meters and Carrington Tate was 13th with a mark of 36.63 meters.

Williams added another individual championship with a mark of 16.25 meters in the shot put. Dedric Hicks of West Alabama was second with a throw of 15.65 meters. Tate placed 14th with a mark of 12.02 meters. Philpott was 16th at 11.53 meters and Mann finished 18th with a throw of 10.67 meters.

The Flames had two athletes score in the javelin throw. Stine placed sixth with a throw of 49.47 meters and Williams was seventh with a measurement of 48.54 meters. Mann’s throw of 36.30 meters was good for 14th.

Jacob Salters and Hudson Hunt supplied four points to the team total in the high jump. Salters went over 1.85 meters for sixth place and Hunt finished eighth with a clearance of 1.80 meters.

The Flames put four runners in the top seven of the 1500-meter run. Evan Moore was the event winner at 3:51.72. Jacob Hatcher crossed the finish line in third (3:52.32) and Caleb Guthery was fourth (3:52.37). Parker Campbell claimed seventh with a time of 3:53.62, while Edimo Ninteretse (4:00.34) finished 13th.

Hatcher was sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.37 with Moore close behind in seventh (1:54.69). Stephen Clark (1:55.92) finished 10th and Tal Old was 11th (1:56.26).

In the hurdle events, Markel Kelly placed fourth (15.23) at the 110-meter distance. Stine (15.69) and Iosia (15.79) were seventh and eighth, respectively. Kelly completed the 400-meter hurdles at 58.20 seconds for ninth place. John Womack (58.46) was 10th and Ethan King placed 12th (59.02).

King, Womack, Kelly and Johnson teamed up to finish seventh in the 4x400-meter relay. They recorded a total time of 3:33.65.

During the awards ceremony following completion of today’s competition, Shaw was named Most Outstanding Track Performer and Pierre Chauveau was named Most Outstanding Freshman Performer for the 2025 GSC Outdoor Championships.

The Flames combined to place six team members on the All-Conference First Team and two more on the All-Conference Second Team as a result of finishing either first or second in an event. Earning a spot on the All-Conference First Team were: Chauveau (10000), Clark (steeplechase), Moore (1500), Stine (decathlon), Shaw (200) and Williams (discus and shot put). Chuveau (5000) and Shaw (400) were All-Conference Second Team honorees.
