Baseball/Softball Round-up: Tuesday, March 28th

BASEBALL

East Hamilton 12, Central 1

A seven run second inning powered the Hurricanes to a win over Central Tuesday night.

Jase Phillips and Dillon Holmes led East Hamilton at the plate, picking up two hits each Carson Davis and Brayden Jasper combined for a one hitter for the Canes, striking out five batters between them, to earn the win.

Soddy Daisy 9, Red Bank 2

The Trojans took the lead for good in the third inning when Kale Johnson’s single scored Logan Williams and a Keith Scoggins fly ball scored Johnson and Gage Welch to break open a 2-2 tie.

Johnson’s three hit performance paced Soddy Daisy’s offense. Teammates Williams and Scoggins had two hits each, with Williams having a triple.

Red Bank’s Cameron Legge and Logan Denton had two hits each.

Soddy Daisy’s Cooper Poe recorded 10 strikeouts in five and two-thirds innings of work on the hill.

CSAS 18, Tyner 10

An eight run inning in the top of the eighth powered the Patriots to an extra inning win over Tyner.

Andrew McDonough’s three hit day paced CSAS with two RBIs and three runs scored. The Patriots had 17 walks` in the game.

S. Adams had three hits for the Rams and scored four runs.

Bradley Central 11, Cleveland 10

Three runs in the top of the seventh and defense in the bottom of the inning capped a rally by the Bears for the win over rival Cleveland.

Bradley had built a five-run lead in the fifth inning and then held off a Blue Raider charge when Cleveland put six runs on the board in he sixth.

Tito Williams and Luke Keith led the Bears with two hits apiece.  Micah Jordan, Anthony Oliver and Andrew Wenger all had two hits for Cleveland.

Signal Mountain 5, CCS 1

The Eagles’ Ben Timblin and Cash Keene combined for the win over CCS. Timblin picked up the decision with a nine strikeout performance.

William Wall and Jameson Hinton led the Chargers’ offense with two hits each.

Walker Valley 6, McMinn Co. 2

Braxton Smith’s six hit, two run day on the mound led the Mustangs to the win over McMinn Co. Smith struck out five and walked one over seven innings. Smith also led Walker Valley at the plate with two hits. Brooks Berry had two hits for McMinn Co.

Rhea Co. 7, Ooltewah 2

Blake Rigsby had three hits, including a triple, and two RBIs with two runs scored for the Golden Eagles. Kamdon Riley added two hits for Rhea.

AJ Robinson led Ooltewah with three hits, while Will Bolt added two.

Rex Pendergrass struck out 10 in six innings of work for the Eagles.

SOFTBALL 

Central 13, Red Bank 1

The Lady Pounders’ Kierston Williams tossed a no-hitter against Red Bank to spark the win.  The junior hurler struck out four and moved to 4-1 on the season. Williams also helped her own cause at the plate, going three for three with a double and three RBIs.

Nevaeh Frank had two hits with five RBIs for Central and Kennedi Sabb stole three bases for the 8-1 Lady Pounders.

Baylor 16 - 20, Knox Webb 0 - 0

Baylor made a statement in their first Region games of the season this afternoon at home!

In game one, Morgan Sharpe was two for three with a home run, Addi Yates was perfect at the plate, gpoing three for three and scoring three runs, with a double and a triple. Riley Oleksik was two for two with an RBI double and home run. Mary Margaret Guthrie and Sloane Watson had two hits each, Amiya Leach contributed a double and a single, and Sydney Sharpe had three hits plating one RBI. Kaylee Snyder was near perfect in the circle, facing one over the minimum and striking out five.

In game two, Baylor put up 11 runs in the first inning and wins big again. Morgan Sharpe and Mary Blake Reese both hit grand slams, Holly Merritt added a three run blast, and Katie Raper also hit a solo home run.

Avery Shamblin pitched a perfect game striking out seven.

Silverdale 21, Notre Dame 0

Jaliyah Whitaker’s three hit, one home run day led the Lady Seahawks, while Kennedy Stinson added two hits including a homer and Addie Keef added two hits, as well.

Ella Cunningham struck out six in three innings for the win in the circle.

Boyd Buchanan 22, Grace 0

Ella Meade was perfect at the plate with four hits for the Lady Bucs, including a double and triple with two RBIs and four runs scored. Brooke Watson, Hailey Cunningham, Mercedes Smith and Gracie Wickham all had two hits. Allison Johnson had a home run for Boyd Buchanan.

Watson picked up the pitching win, hurling a no hit shutout with seven strikeouts.

GPS 9 – 18, Knox Catholic 8 – 0

The Bruisers swept Knox Catholic with Isabella Jenkins and Ansley Griffin leading the way with five hits each on the day. Bailey Long added four, while McKamey Bratcher had three and Ansley Bratcher added two.

Griffin had a home run, triple and two doubles and McKamey Bratcher added a homer and two doubles on the day. Long had a home run and Jenkins a pair of doubles.

Soddy Daisy 13, East Ridge 0

The Lady Trojans banged out 15 hits with Tatum Massengale, Regan Rowan, Addison Ward and Izzy Webb all having two each. Rowan had a pair of doubles.

McMinn Co. 5, Cleveland 4

The Lady Cherokees held off a late game charge by Cleveland for the win. McKenzie Wall went seven innings for McMinn Co. to post the win,

Landri Nelson had two hits for the Lady Blue Raiders.

Whitwell 19, Lookout Valley 5

Whitwell had two hits each from Ava Layne, Kailee Yarber and Marissa Nunley with Layne having a home run and double and Yarber a triple.

The Lady Yellow Jackets’ Bridgette Rollins had two hits.
