The Chattanooga Mocs wrestling team looks to make it an even number at this weekend’s Southern Conference Wrestling Championships. The Mocs head to Boone, N.C., in search of SoCon Tournament Title No. 30.
"The goal is the same every year at Chattanooga," Coach Kyle Ruschell began. "Win the Southern Conference Championships. The history and tradition we have, it's that simple
"Our guys have worked hard and built the foundation to peak in March. Now we've got to go compete with everything we've got at every weight class."
It will be a battle for certain. The Mocs boast one top seed in Rocky Jordan at 174. There is one returning winner on the roster in Matthew Waddell. He’s on the mat this season at 184 after winning it at 197 last March. He’s looking to become the first back-to-back winner at UTC since Bryce Carr at 184 in 2017 and 2018.
Bouts start Saturday morning at 10 a.m. and continue throughout the day culminating in the finals beginning at 7 p.m. Links to ESPN+ and live scoring are available on the GoMocs.com wrestling schedule page.
