LaunchTN endorsed five U.S. Economic Development Administration Regional Technology and Innovation Hubs (Tech Hub) proposals on behalf of the State of Tennessee.
The proposals are designed to reflect the diverse, transformative potential of Tennessee’s tech sectors, which include regional areas of Memphis, Nashville, Chattanooga, Knoxville, and the Tri-Cities.
LaunchTN plans to support implementation of the proposals through advocacy and resources designed to bolster Tennessee innovation, including securing match funding for Tennessee applications selected for Phase 2 implementation awards.
"I am thrilled to recognize these five proposals, which are uniquely reflective of the dynamic strengths of their respective regions," LaunchTN CEO Lindsey Cox said. "LaunchTN is fully committed to nurturing these tech hubs with our existing resources and is dedicated to driving the advancement of these proposals."
LaunchTN is uniquely positioned to provide comprehensive support to the Tech Hubs.
The organization’s established infrastructure — a statewide network of entrepreneur centers, which:
- facilitate networking within the industry
- provide capital investment, venture support, and SBIR/STTR support
- offer technology transfer support
Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Stuart C. McWhorter said the proposals have a potential for worldwide impact.
“These Tech Hubs will be instrumental in driving economic growth and furthering Tennessee’s position as a global player in technology and innovation,” he said. “We are committed to investing in our state's entrepreneurial spirit and helping these hubs thrive."
The endorsed Tech Hub proposals will have access to the vast resources and support services that LaunchTN offers, positioning them for optimal success and scalability.
The projects align with LaunchTN's mission to make Tennessee the best state in the nation for startups.
Organizations and individuals advancing diversity and inclusion in the innovation space and/or supporting workforce development efforts are specifically encouraged to contact consortium leaders as to how they can partner and support Tennessee applications to the EDA Tech Hubs Program.
