Carolyn Lee Layne
Carolyn Lee Layne, 80, of Rock Spring, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 18, 2024.
She was born in Dalton, on Sept. 23, 1943, to the late Floyd and Dora Cochran Thompson. Carolyn was a member of Peavine Baptist Church in Rock Spring, for more than 30 years, and retired from Tennessee Department of Employment Security with over 35 years of service. Carolyn was a world traveler, enjoyed bird watching, playing cards, flowers, jewelry and spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Lance and Katie Dodd; daughter and son-in-law, Kaye and John Anderson; grandchildren, John and Megan Anderson, Stephen and Sallie Anderson, Eric and Amanda Dodd, Jessica Dodd, Coty Dodd, Rachel, RJ, and Sonny; great-grandchildren, Erin, Uriah, Albert, Beau, Braydon, Carter, Hunter, Dawson, Trace, Rayden, Ruth, and Layla; siblings, Richard Thompson, Jim Thompson, and Kathy Land, nephews, Kelly Edgerton and Mitch Thompson, and other extended family and friends to cherish her memory.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory. Interment will follow at Peavine Baptist Church Cemetery in Rock Spring.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at 2 p.m.
