Bradley County Sheriff Steve Lawson was involved in a motor vehicle crash Sunday afternoon in Hamilton County near the Shallowford Road exit of I-75.
Sheriff Lawson left church a short time prior to the incident and was in his personal vehicle when the crash occurred.
Sheriff Lawson was transported from the scene to a local hospital to be treated. He will be staying overnight at the hospital for observation.
His wife, Connie Lawson, said on Sunday afternoon that he was in the Intensive Care Unit.
She said, "I just want to give all our family and friends a brief update. As many have already heard Steve and I was involved in an auto crash in Hamilton county. Steve is currently in ICU but we believe in a God that can do exceedingly more than we ask. I ask for you to lift him up in your prayers. He will be having another scan at 8 pm. I cannot express our appreciation for all the calls, texts, and visits we have had here at the hospital. My specific prayer is for the bleeding to cease and pain to be controlled. I have no doubt that while there was only 2 people in our truck, God was riding in that vehicle. Praise God for His protection."
