The Chattanooga Mocs men’s golf team is tied for sixth after 18 holes at the Western Intercollegiate. The Mocs made it around Pasatiempo Golf Club with an 8-over 358 to tie host San Jose State.
The duo are 10 shots behind leader Arizona. Stanford (354) is in second followed by Washington (355), Cal (356) and Oregon (356). BYU is in eighth, one behind the Mocs and Spartans.
Dalton Chuba led the way with a bogey-free, 2-under 68. Braedon Wear is next with 70 followed by playing partner Garrett Engle at 72.
Paul Conroy and Samuel Espinosa had matching 74s with John Houk’s 77 being his first drop score of the season.
“The guys battled today,” Coach Blaine Woodruff explained. “I’m really proud of their attention to detail. We didn’t quite execute how we wanted, but our course management and awareness kept us in the mix. We’re excited for tomorrow.”
Washington’s Taehoon Song is the early leader at 4 under. There are three golfers tied for second with 3 under as Chuba is one of seven tied for fifth with 68, just two off the pace.
