Founded in 2013, the Honoring the Sacrifice Foundation is a non-profit organization which was formed to assist catastrophically wounded veterans and their families. Based in Chattanooga, Honoring the Sacrifice has grown from a regional to a national organization with a wide outreach, helping post-9/11 Purple Heart recipients across the country.

Through a partnership with Chattanooga Tractor and Equipment, the foundation has gifted two brand-new New Holland track loaders to veterans in Ohio and Montana. According to foundation representative Catherine Smith, “While each recipient lost both legs during the War on Terror in Iraq and Afghanistan, with the use of these machines, they will gain significant independence and be able to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities within their communities. These powerful machines with hand controls, electronic systems, and climate-controlled cabs, help overcome substantial physical limitations, and, according to one veteran, feels like an extension of his prosthetics.”

Now through Memorial Day, Chattanooga Tractor and Equipment will be donating a portion of the proceeds of every Ferris and eXmark commercial mower sold, and qualifying residential mower to Honoring the Sacrifice Foundation.

“Since we at Chattanooga Tractor and Equipment are also locally founded, we immediately gravitated toward Honoring the Sacrifice," said Nick Topping, vice president, Chattanooga Tractor and Equipment. "But, when I heard the story of Mel Cort, I was blown away, and at that moment I knew Honoring the Sacrifice was an organization I wanted to be a part of. It is my hope that through this special promotion we can help the foundation get that much closer to changing the life of another veteran. I cannot wait to see what they do next!”
