Alfred "Billy" Polk, 81, passed away peacefully at his home on June 13, 2024.

Known and loved by many as "Billy," he leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a lifetime of cherished memories,

Billy's first and greatest love was his wife of 52 years, Lurleen "Polly" Polk who departed this earth in 2016. His second love was fishing and hunting, passions that not only sustained his family, but also provided joy and nourishment to the entire population of Tennessee, a community he cherished. Up until his passing, you could find Billy on the banks of the Tennessee River, sitting on a bucket early in the morning, catching fish and sharing his wisdom With the younger generation, his backyard was often a hub of activity, where he cleaned his daily catch and generously shared it with friends and family a testament to the community's role in his life

Though fishing was his life's work, Billy also dedicated many years to Wheland Foundry, where he worked tirelessly until his retirement.

Billy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lurleen "Pally" Polk; his son, Alfred W. Polk Jr., and his granddaughter, Chelsea Polk.

Billy is survived by his sister, Gloria Jean; his sons, Kelvin Polk (Penny) and Gregory Polk, and his daughter, Felicia Jackson (Robert).

Billy cherished his grandchildren, Marcus, Alfred, III, Keyra, Lauren, Matthew, Tiffany, Jessica, Briana, Carlicia, Markel, Christiana, and Caitlin, He also leaves behind a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. His close fishing buddy and special neighbors ensured he was always well taken care of.

Every grandchild and great-grandchild had the joy of experiencing "The Dun Da Dun— a special ride upon his shoulders that they will never forget. Billy loved fiercely and deeply, and we find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, reunited with his beloved Polly, as he always said, “I miss my baby and can't wait to be with her again.” His love and joy will forever be a part of our family, connecting us all in a special way.

Public viewing will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, at the funeral home.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 1, at Beautiful Greenwood Cemetery.

Arrangements are by John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 423 622-9995.
