The Urban League of Greater Chattanooga hosted a preview event this month with 70 community partners and supporters in attendance for the official release of the 2024 State of Black Chattanooga report.
Officials said, "This second edition of the SOBC offers valuable insights and data to inform policy, drive community initiatives and promote equity.
"The inaugural report, released in 2022, aimed to provide a high-quality, data-driven, accessible and localized resource for public practitioners and the community at large.
It generated a more holistic picture of the disparities faced by black residents in the areas of economics, health education and civic involvement.
"A key feature of the SOBC is the Black-White Equality Index, modeled after the National Urban League’s State of Black America report. This index assesses the well-being outcomes experienced by black and white Chattanoogans and examines whether those outcomes are distributed equally across races.
"The 2024 report highlights key trends, challenges and opportunities within the community, underscoring the Urban League’s ongoing commitment to advancing economic self-reliance, parity, power and civil rights."
The report is available for download on the Urban League of Greater Chattanooga’s website at ulchatt.net/state-of-black-chattanooga-2024.
