In Partnership With Dragon Wings, Lawson Electric Producing First Industrial Solar Generator

  • Monday, August 19, 2024

Lawson Electric Company is partnering with Dragon Wings to produce the world’s first and fastest product to provide portable, clean power. The portable units are being produced in Chattanooga and provide an industrial strength solar generator that meets the challenges of weather, natural disasters, EV charging, events, construction and more. The clean technology that generates electricity to empower communities and industries arrives in a portable unit which is fully charged and ready to go to work, said officials.

Delivered to any location, the portable units take five minutes to set up with Dragon Wings opening within two minutes to provide power. Easy to maintain and remotely manage, the wings auto fold at night or in extreme weather. Tested at construction sites and festivals as well as providing power and shade in parking lots, its ability to stack on top of a shipping container opens the door to infinite uses, said officials.

Lawson Electric President and CEO Bill Crawford shared that the relationship started from an introduction in a peer group with Dragon Wings founder Ryan Wartena. Because of Lawson’s pre-fabrication capabilities, they were a natural fit to assemble, weld, wire and paint the units. “We’re excited to provide a product that can open in less than 10 minutes and immediately start producing electricity. We’ve found a great partner in Dragon Wings and look forward to what the future holds. We’re ready to make a difference not only for electrical needs but also for our environment,” said Mr. Crawford.

Mr. Wartena noted, “The Lawson team has all of the skills necessary for production, including a great workforce. As an early-stage heavy equipment start-up, we have the ability to scale up with Lawson. It takes around a week and a half to get a unit from pre-fab to operational. We’re pleased with the progress we’re making with our product and our partnership with Lawson.”

Dragon Wings’ parent company is Southern Beams Builds is based in San Francisco. The first units are headed to the Burning Man Festival in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert. Mr. Wartena said, “Burning Man is a perfect use of Dragon Wings. Attendees can hang out under the solar wings for shade, to charge a phone or power the bands. The uses for this clean technology are limitless.”
