Roger Hoyt Kirby
Roger Hoyt Kirby, 81, went to his heavenly home on August 21, 2024.
He was a very dedicated and loving husband to his wife, Carole Gentry Kirby, of 60 years and a loving father to his children. He is survived by a son, Brent G. Kirby (Jaycee), a daughter, Julie Kirby Jones; granddaughters, Alexa Kirby Carini (P.J.), Kirby Jones Allmond (Sport) and great grandson, Gentry Carini.
Roger was a graduate of Rossville High School and Middle Tennessee State University. He was a fan of the university and revisited the campus frequently over the years following his graduation. Roger attained the honor of being a member of the Golden Raiders Society (recognition as a 50-year alum).
Roger began his career at Combustion Engineering. Later, he worked for Mueller Company, both located in Chattanooga. The last 20 years of his work career were spent in management with Synthetic Industries. He was responsible for overseeing procurement departments at the Chickamauga, Ringgold, Gainesville, Ga. plants; Gaffney, S.C. and Chattanooga plants.
Roger was a loving father and often shared his knowledge of history with his children by taking his family to local historical landmarks, parks and museums. Roger never missed an opportunity to attend any events in which his children participated. While living on the lake, he and his family enjoyed canoeing, boating and fishing together. Roger enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and his great grandchildren. In retirement, he and the love of his life, Carole, enjoyed some domestic and international travel. To save later, they spent some of their retirement years in Rock Island, Tn., where they enjoyed exploring the area’s historical sites and area attractions. They enjoyed Laurel Creek Baptist Church while there and the friends they made. Roger has been blessed by members of his church here, Burning Bush Baptist. The love shown to him has helped him feel supported and needed even in his latter stages of dementia.
The loving, caring and supportive staff at Rosewood deserves recognition and our sincere thanks and appreciation for helping Roger and our family feel supported and loved.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25, in the funeral home chapel. Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 26, at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
