Christine Willoughby, affectionately known as Mawmaw, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024.

Born to Alfred and Minnie Brown on April 21, 1936, in Gadsden, Al., she was a beacon of light and warmth in the community and church she dearly loved.

On April 21, 1957, she married her beloved JT Willoughby, marking the beginning of a shared life filled with 66 years of love and devotion. They loved traveling together, especially to the beach and mountains with family.

Christine was preceded in death by her husband JT Willoughby, parents Alfred and Minnie Brown, brothers Raymond Brown, James Brown, Eugene Brown, sisters Nettie Jo McCormick and Earline Jenkins.

A graduate of Etowah High School in 1954, Christine dedicated her life to spending time with her family and friends while sitting on her porch swing talking with them. She was a great mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who spent many years babysitting and influencing their lives. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she was a devoted member.

Christine loved her two children, Harold Willoughby and Connie Hull, who remember her as a nurturing soul, always ready with a comforting word or an engaging story. She spent many days and nights at the football and baseball field watching her kids and grandkids cheering them on.

She is survived by her son, Harold (Kicia) Willoughby, daughter, Connie (Tim) Hull, four grandchildren, Tara Moore, Matt (Hope) Willoughby, Kristen (Brian) King and Alex (Sydney) Willoughby, will carry on her legacy of kindness and joy as well her great-grandchildren, Kate, Libby, Millie, Anabelle, Annie and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Aug. 29, from 5–7 p.m. and on Friday, Aug. 30, from 11 a.m. till the service hour at 12 p.m.

Services to honor and celebrate the life of Christine Willoughby will be held at noon on Friday, Aug. 30, at Lane Funeral Home, at 833 Chickamauga Ave., Rossville. Following the service, Christine will be laid to rest at Lakewood Memory Garden South.

Speakers, including Pastor Bobby Walston, and Pastor Randy Chesnutt, will share memories and reflections on Christine's remarkable life.

Christine Willoughby will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know her.
