Put The Mental Hospital On Cameron Hill - And Response

  • Sunday, June 8, 2025

I'm just spit-balling here, but isn't Blue Cross trying to divest itself of the campus atop Cameron Hill? If so, that property might be a prime location for consideration for the new mental health hospital.

Pluses.....the building is already built. Physically isolated for security. One road access. Parking garage. Remains inside city limits with no muss or fuss.

A centralized hospital with care for mental health patients is needed. The care of the mentally fragile person is expensive and an arguable point regarding the cost of a stand alone hospital.

More to the need, state-wide better facilitated by location. Local branches are needed as well but cost prohibits stand alone hospitals in most cities.

There are not sufficient numbers of the mentally fragile to justify hospitals.
