Chattanooga Lookouts starting pitcher Jared Lyons had one of his best starts of the season on Wednesday night going six scoreless to lead the team to a 1-0 victory over the Columbus Clingstones. Lyons allowed only two hits in six innings striking out six and walking just one.
Joel Valdez followed Lyons out of the bullpen and tossed two scoreless innings and then Trevor Kuncl did his thing in the ninth inning, retiring all three batters he faced to lock down his 13th save.
The Lookouts scored their only run in the top of the first inning. Edwin Arroyo led off the game with a double to left field. Then Leo Balcazar ripped a single to centerfield to plate Arroyo for the game's only run. Balcazar and Dominic Pitelli had two hits apiece for Chattanooga.
The Lookouts pulled off the victory despite striking out 15 times on the night. The win gets them back to .500 at 11-11 in the second half. They are 4.5 games behind first place Birmingham. Chattanooga looks to win their third game in a row at Columbus Thursday night at 7:05 p.m.
