Among the more ridiculous ideas/"orders" dumped on the American people by the Trump cult is the absurd nonsense proposed by Rep. Andy Ogles of Tennessee's 5th Congressional District is the proposal of a third term for Trump. Closer examination of this nonsense as revealed in the Nashville Tennessean seems to show an ulterior reason for this move. Apparently Rep. Ogles is under investigation by the FBI regarding errors in his campaign finance filings focusing on a self-reported loan that he described as a "pledge."
Therefore, it would make sense that if Rep. Ogles is under investigation, he might seek "help" from the White House, and could curry favor by proposing a third term for Trump, a move that Trump has already embraced. This proposal could place Rep. Ogles in line for a favor or one of Trump's cheap, easily-granted pardons.
The Constitutional amendment requiring term limits was enacted for good reason. The idea of eliminating such a protection for democracy is complete nonsense.

The Republicans were strong advocates for the passage of the 22nd Amendment. They were reacting to Roosevelt's election in 1932, and subsequent reelection in 1936, 1940 and 1944.
Ratified in 1951, it came back around to hurt the Republicans. By most accounts, both Eisenhower (in 1960) and Reagan (in 1988) could have won third terms.
Be careful what you wish for.
