The Georgia Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division announced the promotion of Sergeant Casey Jones to the rank of captain and announced that he will be the new supervisor of Region I, which covers 28 counties in northwest Georgia and includes the city of Atlanta. He steps into the vacancy created when Captain Al Greer laterally transferred to Region V in SW Georgia. Both moves are the result of the retirement of Captain Rick Sellars from Region V.
“Captain Jones has a reputation of dedication and hard work, and I am confident in his ability to be an outstanding leader for our northwest Georgia region,” said DNR Law Enforcement Director Colonel Mike England.
Captain Jones is a 25-year veteran of DNR. He began his career as a wildlife tech in 2000 and transferred to law enforcement in 2006. He promoted to corporal in 2007 and to sergeant in 2021, where he was assigned to Fannin County.
After leading the NW Georgia Region, Captain Greer returns as the region supervisor of Region V in southwest Georgia, where he served the vast majority of his 25-year career.
Both captains assumed their new responsibilities on Tuesday.
